5 Signs You Need a Drain Cleaning | Wade Roberts Plumbing

November 6, 2023

Clogged drains can be a major nuisance, as they can cause slow drainage and unpleasant odors in your home. Fortunately, there are some tell-tale signs that you may need to have your drains cleaned. Here are five signs that you should look out for if you suspect your home's drains need to be serviced:

1. Gurgling noises coming from the pipes

If you hear gurgling or bubbling noises when the water is running or draining, it means there is likely an obstruction in the pipe that is causing air to get trapped.

2. Slow draining

It’s normal for water to take a few seconds to completely drain, but if it’s taking significantly longer than usual, it can point to an issue with the lines. This could be due to debris buildup in the drainpipes, or even a leaking pipe that is slowing down the flow of water.

3. Foul odors

Drains that haven’t been used recently tend to emit a musty smell due to stagnant water sitting in the pipes. However, if your drains smell especially bad regularly and even after using them, you probably have a build-up of organic materials like grease clogging up the line.

4. Multiple clogged drains

If one or two of your drains are clogged but others aren't, it might mean that part of your main drain line is blocked and backing up into other parts of your system. This can cause problems throughout your plumbing system so it’s best dealt with by professionals right away!

5. Water backups

Backed-up water coming out of nearby fixtures may indicate a more serious blockage situation in one of your main lines between different areas of the house - this too should be handled quickly by professionals!
